Before you ask
Is this gambling?
No. There is no real money in Poker Chips Royale: no wagering, no deposits, no payouts. The app only replaces the physical chips in a game you are already playing in person with real cards.
Do my friends need the app?
No. Only the host needs the app. Friends can join the table from the browser at pokerchipsroyale.com/join. No download, no account.
Does it work without internet?
Partly. iPhones at the same table can connect over local Wi-Fi right inside the app, with no internet, so that works at the cabin or in the basement. Friends who join from a browser by scanning the QR do need internet, because that goes through an online relay.
What do I need to play?
A deck of real playing cards, an iPhone or iPad to host the table, and your friends' phones. That is the whole setup, and the app does everything the chips used to do.
Is it free?
Yes to download, and free to use with 2 to 4 players, including everyone playing from their own phone. Tables of 5 to 10 players need a one-time Pro purchase. Guests always join free, with no app and no account.
Is there an Android version?
Coming soon. Until then, Android players can join a hosted table from the browser at pokerchipsroyale.com/join.
